The one perk to Ruben Fleischer’s Gangster Squad being pushed back four months is it gives ample time to release more awesome promotion for the film.
Today, First Showing posted a series of stylish banners featuring eight of the main characters. All of the banners are awesome, but I’m particularly partial to Emma Stone‘s and Anthony Mackie‘s.
Stone looks absolutely stunning in the same red dress that she’s worn on most of the posters. She’s also the only one to be looking directly into the camera, seductively staring at anyone who happens to take a look.
We haven’t seen much of Mackie in the trailers so far, but I’m really excited to see him in this film. His performance in The Adjustment Bureau was one of the highlights of that film, and he’s been rapidly rising since. Gangster Squad should be another great film for him.
Gangster Squad hits theaters January 11, 2013.

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.
