Ready for some exciting news? The Wrap is reporting that 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor is being eyed to play the villain in the upcoming Bond 24, which Sam Mendes will be directing. No word yet on who the villain will be or how he’ll factor into the overall story, but Ejiofor is said to be the frontrunner.
That’s not all, though. The report also says that casting is underway for two female roles. One will be the new Bond girl and the other is a “Scandinavian with a troubled past who will serve as a brief love interest.” Unfortunately, The Wrap did not say which actresses are being eyed for the female leads but we’ll be sure to keep you posted if and when we hear more.
As for Ejiofor, this news will surely please a lot of people. After giving such a powerful performance in 12 Years a Slave, you can bet that moviegoers are eager to see him put his talents to good use once again. Should he join Bond 24, he likely won’t have time for Star Wars: Episode VII (which he was rumored for), but I don’t think anyone will complain. Seeing Ejiofor in a villainous role, in the James Bond franchise no less, will definitely be a treat and is something that this particular writer cannot wait for.
Tell us, would you like to see Chiwetel Ejiofor play the villain in Bond 24?
