Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, the status of Steve Rogers has been left somewhat up in the air. While he’s still leading a team of Avengers, the character is no longer wielding the shield, and whether or not the fugitive superhero is going to show up again before Avengers: Infinity War remains a mystery as of now.
As it turns out though, Evans has a few ideas of his own about where Captain America should go from here, and it appears that the actor has his sights set on two very specific Marvel franchises:
“Guardians would be fun, wouldn’t it? But it’s very outer spacey. Cap’s more of an Earth-bound guy. Maybe the next Spider-Mans. Those are going to be fantastic, and I think Tom [Holland]’s just a great actor, so that might be a fun one to pop up into.”
Spider-Man: Homecoming is probably a more likely option than Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, especially as Marvel are no doubt saving a crossover between The Avengers and that latter franchise for Infinity War. However, with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man set to make his presence felt in Spidey’s next movie, chances are there won’t be any room for Cap.
Still, after the fun exchange between Peter Parker and Steve Rogers in Captain America: Civil War, it would be great fun to see more of them together on the big screen. Plus, given that the patriotic superhero is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s biggest star at the moment, chances are we’ll see Cap show up again long before 2018 rolls around.
