With his upcoming role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt is starting to become a hot name in Hollywood. More and more doors are opening up for the actor and now Universal is eyeing him for the lead part in director Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World.
According to The Wrap, the deal isn’t finalized just yet but Pratt is in talks with the studio. The role he’s being looked at for is the one that Josh Brolin was originally going to take. Unfortunately, we don’t have any other details on the character that he would play but with the cast slowly settling into place, it shouldn’t be too long now before we start to hear more on this one.
In addition to Pratt, reports are also coming in that say Life of Pi‘s Irrfan Khan is being looked at for a supporting part. As with Pratt’s role though, there are no further details at this time, unfortunately.
So far, set for Jurassic World are Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins. Also set for the film is a June 12th, 2015 release date, placing it in what is perhaps one of the busiest movie seasons in, well, ever.
Clearly the studio wants to get moving quickly on this one, as casting news has been coming at us fast and furiously over the past few weeks. At the rate that things seem to be going, I would hope (and expect) that we’ll have a finalized cast list as well as plot details by the end of the year.
