Perhaps everyone has overreacted to Chris Pratt‘s Mario voice for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie. The third and final trailer for the upcoming film adaptation was released, which showcased more of Pratt’s voice, and apparently, people found it to be good rather than annoying.

Nintendo dropped the film’s newest trailer during MAR10 (aka Mario Day), where it featured more of the Mushroom Kingdom, an epic and dangerous race on Rainbow Road, and a team-up between Mario and Donkey Kong. And a new trailer also means more talking lines for the iconic red plumber.

Fans were shocked that it took three trailers for Pratt’s Mario voice to be somewhat decent. Sure, it’s not perfect but it works. One also admitted that if Mario sounded the way he is in the game, it would have gotten annoying, especially for a 2-hour film. And even if he doesn’t sound like the original Mario, he’s still able to pull off little noises like “wahoo” in the iconic Mario sound.

Pratt has been heavily criticized for his Mario voice acting since the film was first announced. The actor teased that his voice would “blow fans’ minds,” but it was immediately mocked when the first trailer was released. This went on when the second trailer and a few clips for the film were released and led to the directors defending their decision. While there are still some who still don’t like the voice, at least there are those who kinda appreciate the “effort” Pratt has put in for the upcoming film.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be out in theaters on April 5, 2023.
