Special guest Sam Noland of Anyway, That’s All I Got joins the Cinemaholics this week for an action-packed episode, where we review Sicario: Day of the Soldado, the sequel to the 2015 surprise critical hit, Sicario. The sequel once again stars Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro, and the script is again penned by Taylor Sheridan, but does it live up to its predecessor? Tune in to find out!
Before we get started with our featured review though, we dive into some quick movie news. First, there’s the confirmation from Disney and Lucasfilm surrounding the upcoming Boba Fett standalone Star Wars movie to be directed by James Mangold. There’s also a new DC Comics streaming service coming out called DC Universe, which will let subscribers access new shows, archived movies, and even comics. And finally, the Cinemaholics discuss the latest controversy surrounding alleged sexist workplace practices at Pixar.
Later in the show, we do a few Mini Reviews, starting with the new Marvel movie Ant-Man and The Wasp. Jon also gives his thoughts on the indie drama Leave No Trace from Debra Granik, while Will gives us the low down on the new basketball comedy Uncle Drew. Finally, Sam shares a memorable experience checking out 2001: A Space Odyssey in remastered 70mm, and Jon and Will team up to breakdown American Animals, the new indie docudrama acquired by MoviePass.
