At long last, viral horror sensation Cocaine Bear is finally available to stream from the comfort of your own home over on Peacock. After releasing in theaters back in February, curious moviegoers flocked to the theaters in waves to experience the unfathomable story about a black bear ingesting a brick of cocaine. And while some folks online are now relishing the chance to watch the thriller for the very first time, others are actually more interested in witnessing a Peacock documentary that outlines the true story.
While Elizabeth Banks’ unique take on the creature feature sub-genre is absolutely bonkers in its own right, the actual truth behind the case is certainly more somber. Unlike the movie bear embarking on an insanely murderous rampage, the actual American black bear that ingested 75 pounds of cocaine back in the ‘80s unfortunately died.
Interestingly enough, the aforementioned documentary showcasing the true events is hilariously taking the spotlight away from the fictional movie — with a parade of Twitter users seemingly more interested in tuning in to the latest doc than watching the faux “Cocaine Bear” viciously murder people.
Of course, when you consider how insanely popular the concept of true crime is, it hardly comes as a surprise that a hot topic about a cocaine-ingesting bear has successfully gone and taken center stage. Luckily, there’s no concrete evidence to suggest that the actual Cocaine Bear ever came in contact with humans while high on the powder — not that we’re complaining in the slightest.
