The Coen Brothers are set to tackle Hollywood’s Golden Age with their unique mischievous style that’s earned the pair a reputation for crafting cinematic masterpieces. Their next pic, Hail, Caesar!, is already showing signs of replicating the pair’s earlier successes, and now we know for certain when we’ll be able to see it!
In a press release put out earlier, Universal has revealed the film’s release date. That’s right folks, you can get in line for your next big screen dose of Coen action when Hail, Caesar! is released on February 5th, 2016. Thus far, the film is the only one releasing that day, but it’s unlikely to stay that way for long.
Joel and Ethan Coen will once again be writing and directing the pic, which is set during the final days of the Hollywood Studio System. Across backlots and down backalleys, the film will follow a day in the life of Eddie Mannix, a ‘fixer’ played by George Clooney, who has to deal with many unsavoury duties when a star goes missing.
As is this case with the majority of auteurs, the Coens are enlisting a bunch of rrecognizablef aces who’ve tackled their material before, with Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men, True Grit) and Tilda Swinton (Burn After Reading) joining Clooney. The new kids on the block include Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Ralph Fiennes, David Krumholtz, Patrick Fischler and Fisher Stevens.
That’s all we’ve got so far on Hail Caesar!, but we’ll keep you posted on any new developments regarding the Coens’ latest as they arise.
