For anyone who’s been keeping up to date on the rumors and speculation around the release of the first Avengers 4 trailer, this last month has been an ongoing saga of disappointment and false hope that looked like it might finally be coming to its end with the recent reports that the teaser would be dropping this Wednesday. But while the evidence mounts that this rumor was built on genuine fact, it seems that the light at the end of the tunnel may have been pushed back once more.
Steven Weintraub from Collider took to Twitter to relay word that we’re unlikely to see any footage from the Avengers: Infinity War sequel come Wednesday, saying:
“Here’s a bit more info. Heard the Avengers 4 trailer was going to drop last week. Then I heard this Wednesday. Now I’m hearing the date has changed. Again. So anyone that tells you they know for sure when the trailer is dropping doesn’t know what they are talking about.”
And so it continues. If this latest report is the real deal and no trailer arrives on the 5th, you can expect the internet to settle on an alternative premiere date before too long, starting this cycle of expectations all over again.
Yes, this is getting pretty exhausting, but as Weintraub goes on to say, Marvel Studios hasn’t promised anything beyond a Captain Marvel trailer tonight, so the fans may want to step away from their keyboards and take a few deep breaths before they get too worked up about this development.
For all the fanfare we’ve been seeing this year around the lead-up to the Avengers 4 trailer, it’ll be a relief when it finally drops if for no other reason than the period of uncertainty and speculation that it will bring to an end. This two-minute advert has some ridiculously high expectations to live up to, but regardless of whether the teaser can deliver on the hype, it’s clear that the fans are in need of no further convincing before they show up to theaters next year.
