Daniel Radcliffe has done an excellent job distancing himself from the Harry Potter world, which was a very difficult task to do. With recent credits in films like Kill Your Darlings, Horns and The Woman In Black, we’re almost starting to forget that this is the same guy who once waved his wand and cast spells in J.K. Rowling’s magical world.
Not too long ago we heard that the aforementioned author would be writing a Harry Potter spin-off film titled Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, which will be set several decades before the boy who lived was born. Of course, this would lead many to believe that there would be no room for Daniel Radcliffe in the film, but apparently, we shouldn’t give up hope just yet.
Speaking to THR, the young actor said that he probably won’t come back to reprise his role but at the same time, he doesn’t completely rule it out.
“I don’t think I’m going to be coming back,” he said. “We can’t be doing these characters when we’re 40, so there has to be a line drawn. I never know what Jo [Rowling] is going to write, but at the moment I’m in the same position that everyone else is in — waiting to hear what information is coming out because I don’t know anything about these new films. If time travel rears its head again, I’ll be intrigued to see what she does.”
Given the turn that Radcliffe’s career has taken recently, I can’t see him coming back, and I’m not sure I would want him to either. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of the actor and love the Harry Potter films, I just don’t think Radcliffe should get involved with that world again. He should focus his efforts on distancing himself from the Potter universe so he can grow more as an actor.
That’s just my opinion though. What do you think? Should Daniel Radcliffe show up in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them?
