Talk about a match made in heaven. THR is reporting today that David Fincher is set to reunite with writer Aaron Sorkin for an upcoming Steve Jobs film. Sorkin had completed his script earlier this year but at the time, there was no word on who might direct. Now, it looks like Sony wants the put The Social Network team back together for another tech-focused biopic.

Unlike Jobs, the Ashton Kutcher film that also took a look at the iconic founder of Apple, this project will focus on three keynote speeches (the first Mac, NeXT and the iPod) and is inspired by Walter Isaacson’s biography, titled Steve Jobs.

Check out what Sorkin had to say about the film a while back when he spoke to The Daily Beast:

“I hope I don’t get killed by the studio for giving too much away,” Sorkin said, “but this entire movie is going to be three scenes, and three scenes only, that all take place in real time.”

Real time, Sorkin said, “is when a half hour for you in the audience is the same as a half hour for the character on the screen. There will be no time cuts. Each of these three scenes is going to take place before a product launch—backstage before a product launch. The first one being the Mac, the second one being NeXT (after he had left Apple), and the third one being the iPod.”

No details yet on who might star as Jobs but the very prospect of Sorkin and Fincher working together again, after they delivered the wildly impressive Facebook film The Social Network, has our excitement through the roof. Like I said above, this really is a match made in heaven. The duo has already proven that they work well together and seeing as they are taking on another biopic that focuses on a controversial tech icon, the result should be equally as electrifying as their last collaboration.
