If there’s one thing Dwayne Johnson has, apart from more muscles than Maui, it’s confidence. From expecting flirtation from the dictionary to spinning multi-million dollar-dropping business ventures as major successes, The Rock is seemingly impervious to the moments of self-doubt that affect the rest of us mere mortals from time to time. Case in point, superhero fans are remembering the moment Johnson provided a textbook definition of narcissism in one particular scene from his DC movie debut.
As originally shared by a Twitter account called “Crazy ass moments in DC history,” the post-credits scene of DC League of Super-Pets deserves to go down as the most self-indulgent sequence ever included in a comic book film. For those that need a reminder, the scene saw Krypto (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) encounter Black Adam (voiced by Dwayne Johnson), who was accompanied by his pet dog Anubis (voiced by Dwayne Johnson). And, remember, this was in a movie produced by Dwayne Johnson, previewing another movie starring and produced by Dwayne Johnson.
As the anonymous OP succinctly put it when reposting on the r/DC_Cinematic subreddit: “if narcissism was an image.”
Black Adam‘s own post-credits sequence didn’t have quite so many Dwayne Johnsons in it, but it still failed to set up a Superman/Black Adam crossover just as badly.
You gotta hand it to The Rock, at least he didn’t play Superman himself.
Although maybe that wasn’t so gracious after all.
A friendly reminder that Johnson is also producing, and likely starring in, Disney’s just-announced Moana live-action remake.
The hierarchy of power in the Dwayne Johnson Cinematic Universe sure changed that day.
Whatever happens in James Gunn’s rebooted DCU, which definitely won’t feature any of these Dwayne Johnson variants, we’re pretty sure nothing will top this truly “crazy ass” moment in DC history.
