If last week belonged to Zazie Beetz’s elusive Domino and her expert marksmanship, then this week is all about the time-traveling maniac known as Cable.
Brought to life by Josh Brolin (Avengers: Infinity War), Nathan Summers is one of the headline additions to Deadpool 2‘s crowded cast, and to ensure fans were able to catch an official, high-res look at Brolin kitted out as Cable before the inevitable onslaught of set photos, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter earlier this morning to unveil a Cable close-up. From the three-pronged facial scar to that cyborg, all-seeing eye, this is an incredibly faithful rendition of Mr. Summers – the “grumpy, heavily-armed Uncle from the future,” as Reynolds as aptly put – and now, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld has gone one step further to unveil a full body shot of Josh Brolin in costume.
Armed to the teeth and wielding a rather formidable grenade launcher, it’s clear that his time-traveling bandit means business, and given the sheer amount of praise that has been pointed in Josh Brolin’s direction, we’re quietly confident that his version of Cable will be one to remember. Not only that, but with the official images now out in the open, it shouldn’t be much longer before the prying eyes of the press catch Brolin on set with both Domino and the Merc With a Mouth, so stay tuned.
Buoyed by the runaway success of the original Deadpool and James Mangold’s beloved Logan, 20th Century Fox has expanded its 2018 plans to include New Mutants (April 13th), Deadpool 2 (June 1st) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, the latter of which has been slated for release on November 2nd, 2018.
On the topic of the Merc’s second outing, though, what are your early impressions of Josh Brolin’s Cable. Yay or nay? You can, as always, drop your thoughts, comments, and concerns via the usual place.
