For Deadpool 2, the end is in sight.
According to sources close to Omega Underground, the David Leitch sequel is expected to wrap up production for the final time on March 29th – no more reshoots, no more pick-ups, and definitely no more additional photography.
This status report comes after weeks of intense speculation and heated debate concerning Deadpool 2‘s schedule. For instance, six weeks ago we learned that the Merc With a Mouth’s second solo adventure was headed for reshoots in Vancouver, before another spell of last-minute pick-ups allowed David Leitch and the team to add a top-secret cameo, one which was supposedly captured on the streets of Los Angeles.
It’s likely a big-name celebrity or film star, given the Merc’s M.O., though we can’t be too sure at this early stage. Either way, Omega Underground is confident that everything should be done and dusted by March 29th.
And given OU’s track record, we’re inclined to believe them. This is, after all, an outlet that monitors all of Hollywood’s major productions with a tremendous amount of precision, before informing its readers about who’s filming what, and where.
For Deadpool 2, this last-minute batch of footage will be captured in Vancouver, the home city of lead star Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool’s lucky charm. The exact details of Fox’s reshoots are currently unknown, though after yesterday’s reports of positive test screenings – in fact, one source compared the “electric” atmosphere to watching the Super Bowl – we can’t imagine that David Leitch’s tinkering will involve anything too serious.
Indeed, if this report holds true, Deadpool 2 is cutting things pretty fine, given the Merc’s sophomore solo outing is due to reach theaters on May 18th. Be that as it may, we’ll keep you up-to-date as this story unfolds.
