So much attention has been devoted to the search and subsequent casting of Domino and Cable – for the record, Zazie Beetz and Infinity War star Josh Brolin clinched those two coveted roles, respectively – that you’d be forgiven for overlooking some of the original stars returning for Deadpool 2.
Case in point: Karan Son’s Dopinder, the Merc with a Mouth’s personal chauffeur and arguably one of the more under-appreciated elements of Fox’s 2016 sleeper hit. Rest assured, Karan Son will be back behind the wheel for Deadpool 2, and will join a list of returning stars that includes Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and T.J. Miller’s Weasel, one of Wade Wilson’s closest allies and the source of much humor in the movie.
That’s something which looks set to continue into the sequel as well, as just this past weekend, Josh Brolin spoke about how funny Deadpool 2 is going to be. Don’t believe him? Well, Miller has now echoed that same sentiment (and not for the first time, either).
Speaking to Screen Rant, here’s what the actor had to share:
This installment is going to be more Weasel-icious than ever before. I was crying so hard laughing that I dropped an iPad in a public restaurant when I was reading the script. As Ryan [Reynolds] and I were talking about, it’s this great thing where we know the tone, we know the stakes, everybody’s played these characters before – most importantly, we know the tone, we know how to hit it pitch perfect. So I think it might actually be funnier than the first one. I’m really, really excited.
Featuring an ensemble anchored by Brolin, Miller and Beetz, the Deadpool 2 cast sheet has also made room in its ranks for up-and-comer Julian Dennison, while fans can look forward to seeing a host of familiar faces, including Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), who was featured in an awesome new set pic that debuted earlier today.
Deadpool 2 has been set for release on June 1st, next year, and currently finds itself sandwiched between Josh Boone’s New Mutants (April 13th) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2nd, 2018). Fox’s comic book movie plans span far beyond 2018, though, now that the studio has staked out a total of six release dates between now and 2021. Perhaps one of those has been reserved for the rumored Fantastic Four revival? Time will tell.
