Deadpool 3 continues to spoil its fans with some massive reveals. And this latest one — well, let’s just say that if you’re not one for spoilers, you will want to proceed with caution.
As reported by The Direct, set photos and footage reveal a major clash between Wolverine and Deadpool. While it’s unknown why the two are at odds, it does appear that Wolverine has the upper hand — at one point, he can even be seen carrying one of Deadpool’s limbs.
Reynolds and Jackman can be seen in pre-visual effects, having a tussle in the sand. In the background, a giant destroyed ’20th Century Fox’ logo can be seen, referencing the studio and its merger with Disney — that made most of the X-Men films to date.
It’s unclear why Deadpool and Wolverine are fighting, but we can hazard a few guesses. Not only are their personalities wildly different, but it’s also possible that Deadpool has disrupted or harmed the spacetime continuum, prompting Wolverine to take drastic action. Considering this is very likely a multiverse movie and that Deadpool went on a time-bending journey during Deadpool 2‘s post-credits, he might have messed up and destroyed or harmed the Fox universe in some way, kicking off a journey to save it (or to find a new home dimension).
Of course, the two could just be fighting over Deadpool’s snarky ways — there’s a reason most of the X-Men don’t associate with him. But, based on where the battle is taking place and the symbolism of a destroyed ’20th Century Fox’ logo, this seems like more than a minor tiff. I suppose we’ll have to wait for May 3, 2024, to find out.
