Despite her odd name, this character does not have any kind of nuclear-based powers in the comics. Instead, she’s actually a telepath with precognitive abilities.

Apparently, several other mutants were considered for Colossus’ sidekick (including original New Mutant Cannonball), but when director Tim Miller shared Negasonic’s name with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, they loved it so much that they settled on her and wrote her into the script.

Weasel (T.J. Miller) has some creatively foul-mouthed ways to describe his pal Wade’s face in these shots. As horrific as the character look here, in the comics, he has appeared even worse at times – with some artists choosing to depict him as a decaying, zombie-like monstrosity.

According to the director, this isn’t the only stage of make-up, either, so expect to see Reynolds under even more hideous prosthetics at some point in the movie.
