While many House of Mouse fans are looking forward to the Marvel offerings that are set to debut on Disney Plus, there are also plenty of Star Wars projects in the works. The media giant has not shied away from expanding their space opera franchise – while it’s by no means official, we’ve heard rumors that a handful of spinoff movies have been canceled, with some of them making their way onto the aforementioned streaming platform. Aside from The Mandalorian – which is already confirmed to be receiving a second season – there are unconfirmed reports that a new Boba Fett TV show, as well as a separate Obi-Wan Kenobi series, are being developed for Disney Plus.
We’ve also heard that a show focused on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is in the works, and takes place in the early years of the rebellion. It seems Diego Luna will reprise his role as rebel spy Cassian Andor, and the series is described as a “rousing spy thriller.”
As ComicBook.com reports, Luna is grateful to have the chance to play Andor once more, as it seems he was somewhat disappointed with Rogue One. When speaking to Syfy about his newest Lucasfilm project, he shed some light on how his big screen appearance made him feel.
“When I saw the film the first time, I was so disappointed at the end,” Luna said. “And not because of the film.”
He elaborated, explaining that watching the movie with his son put the entire experience into perspective.
“My son said, ‘But that’s it, Dad. Right? That’s it,’ And I go, ‘Well, yes. That’s the thing about this film.’ Even though I knew, and I understood, I think that’s the moment where I really got it.”
A few of here at We Got This Covered are big fans of Rogue One, though it’s understandable why Diego Luna was a bit let down, seeing as most of the film’s major players sacrificed their lives at the end, never to be seen or heard from again. Thankfully, the Disney Plus series gives us a chance to see Cassian Andor in action once more, and we couldn’t be happier about it.
