Katherine Heigl and Rosario Dawson lock horns in the nail-biting first trailer for Unforgettable, Denise Di Novi’s directorial debut that ignites a jealous feud between Heigl and Dawson’s leading ladies.
Still licking her wounds from the fallout of a loveless marriage, Tessa Connover (Heigl) struggles to come to terms with the fact that her ex-husband, David (Geoff Stults), has moved on, striking up a happy and healthy relationship with Dawson’s Julia. Complicating matters is the fact that Julia’s arrival thrusts a wedge between Tessa’s relationship with her daughter Lilly, sending an already fractured protagonist over the edge. In short, Heigl’s character is fighting for a life she believes was stolen from her.
There’s a pulpy sense of fun to be found in the trailer above, which isn’t too far removed from the story found in Fatal Attraction or even The Hand That Rocks The Cradle. David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2) and Christina Hodson (Gotham City Sirens) rustled up the screenplay, and though you likely won’t find it competing for any high-ranking awards anytime soon, Unforgettable certainly shows some early signs of promise.
Here’s the official overview, courtesy of Warner Bros.:
Heigl stars as Tessa Connover, who is barely coping with the end of her marriage when her ex-husband, David (Geoff Stults), becomes happily engaged to Julia Banks (Dawson) — not only bringing Julia into the home they once shared but also into the life of their daughter, Lilly (Isabella Rice). Trying to settle into her new role as a wife and a stepmother, Julia believes she has finally met the man of her dreams, the man who can help her put her own troubled past behind her. But Tessa’s jealousy soon takes a pathological turn until she will stop at nothing to turn Julia’s dream into her ultimate nightmare.
Unforgettable premieres April 20, 2017. Isabella Rice and Cheryl Ladd co-star.
