Don’t Hold Your Breath For A Transformers/TMNT Crossover Movie

Paramount producer Brad Fuller has confirmed the studio has no plans for a Transformers/TMNT crossover - for now, at least.

At some point before the year’s end, James Bobin will officially jump-start production on MIB 23, the event film that brings together the worlds of Men in Black and Jump Street series for one big crossover bonanza.

That’s in the works over at Sony, but the studio’s decision to fuse one series with the next has proven infectious, with fans dreaming up scenarios in which the worlds of their favorite movie franchises collide.

Two properties that won’t be undergoing the crossover treatment, however, are Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, after Paramount’s Brad Fuller confirmed the studio has no plans to introduce Optimus Prime and Co. to the half-shell heroes. For now, at least.

Speaking with Screen Rant in anticipation of Out of the Shadows, Fuller noted that the franchises, which have a common denominator in producer Michael Bay, won’t be crossing paths until the Turtles series essentially runs out of juice.

“I will say that in this ‘Turtle’ movie there is a tangential moment that the ‘Transformers’ fans will enjoy. At this point, and I hate this, but at this point I can’t see any kind of crossover. There’s never been talk of that. It feels to me like we need to do a lot more work before we get to that stage. First, I would think we want to make, if we’re lucky enough to have another ‘Turtle’ movie beyond this one, I don’t know why we would start doing a crossover until it felt like the storylines had been played out in the ‘Turtle’ world.”

Back in the realm of reality, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows scurries into theaters today, June 3, and you can catch our verdict of the action sequel right here. Transformers, meanwhile, continues next year when Michael Bay’s The Last Knight makes a stand on June 23, 2017.
