The Powers That Be over at Warner Bros. could be teeing up a possible Dope reunion.
That’s according to Variety, revealing today that up-and-comer Kiersey Clemons is circling the coveted female lead in Rick Famuyiwa’s The Flash. Details remain scarce for now, but all signs point to Clemons assuming the role of Iris West, journalist cohort and potential love interest to Barry Allen. Currently portrayed by Candice Patton in The CW’s live-action series, it’s worth remembering that both movie and show will take place in two entirely different worlds.
When it comes to Clemons, viewers first clocked eyes on the 22-year-old in Famuyiwa’s Sundance darling Dope. She would then go on to appear in a handful of New Girl episodes and comedy sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. The meteoric rise doesn’t stop there, though; the actress has also secured a place in Sony’s redo of cult sci-fi Flatliners, which only recently welcomed the return of Kiefer Sutherland.
Despite departing the movie over creative differences, Seth Grahame-Smith’s script remains the key point of reference for The Flash, which is itself based on a treatment pitched by The LEGO Movie co-directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord.
Ezra Miller takes point for The Flash, after making his bow as the Fastest Man Alive in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s tentatively pegged for March of 2018 but given that Roar Uthaug’s Tomb Raider reboot slotted into March 16, 2018, don’t rule out the possibility that Warner will push Rick Famuyiwa’s tentpole further down the pipeline.
