Dwayne Johnson may have been locked and loaded in the most recent photo to surface for Fast 8, but a lot can transpire in the space of a fortnight, as evidenced by the actor’s ever-popular Instagram feed.

Continuing to champion the arrival of F. Gary Gray’s blockbuster sequel and, in particular, the changes that await one Luke Hobbs, Johnson shared a brand new image of his towering character shackled in handcuffs and behind bars. Could he possibly be paying a visit to Jason Statham’s returning Deckard Shaw? Or is The Rock in a spot of trouble himself?

Gary Gray takes point behind the lens of Fast 8, orchestrating a global white-knuckle ride that features Johnson as musclebound ally Luke Hobbs, Vin Diesel and Charlize Theron as franchise newcomer, Cipher. Elsewhere, there’s also roles for Michelle Rodriguez, Lucas Black – returning to the franchise for the first time since Tokyo Drift – Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Scott Eastwood, Kristofer Hivju, Nathalie Emmanuel and Kurt Russell as the mysterious Mr. Nobody.

The Iceman cometh – and he don’t fuck around. Fast 8 marks the beginning of an all-new trilogy of mainline F&F movies at Universal. It’ll screech onto the scene on April 14, 2017, followed in quick succession by Fast & Furious 9 (April 19, 2019) and Fast & Furious 10 (April 2, 2021).
