Could Edgar Ramirez be the newest cast member to join Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman film? It seems so. After Zack Snyder dismissed the rumors of Viggo Mortensen possibly taking on a villain role in the film, the part is still open. I’m sure there are a number of actors in consideration but Latino Review seems to think that Mr. Edgar Ramirez is going to land the part. While the site does have a good reputation, this is still considered a rumor, so take it as you will. Here’s what they had to say about it though.
From what I’m told, I’m hearing that Edgar Ramirez who by the way killed it in the 5 hour CARLOS miniseries (can’t wait for the Criterion blu ray) is supposedly being eyed for a villain role in Zack Snyder’s Superman film.
Now at press time, I don’t know if it’s for General Zod or another villain role. The secrecy surrounding this project is that tight. I also don’t personally know if Edgar auditioned, or his name is simply being tossed around, or the producers have gotten into it with Edgar’s reps.
This of course has led to much speculation on which villain Ramirez will play. The name General Zod keeps popping up but I for one hope that Snyder gives us someone different. I guess only time will tell though.
As for Ramirez, he’s not a huge name but has done some solid work, most notably in Carlos, which he is getting a lot of recognition for. He will also star in Clash of the Titans 2, also a Warner Bros. film. So it may make sense if he moved onto Superman right after Clash.
What do you think?
