With all the recent rumblings of Edgar Wright‘s Ant Man, many have forgotten that he also has another film on the horizon. Night Stalker, which Johnny Depp is currently attached to, is a project that Wright has been working on for a while and today, THR is reporting that the film has found a writer in D.V. DeVincentis (High Fidelity, Grosse Point Blank).

The film is a reboot of the classic, supernatural ’70s series that centers on”Carl Kolchak, a reporter for the Chicago-based Independent News Service Stories, who investigated bizarre crimes committed by supernatural agents.”

Many were hoping that Wright would pen the film himself and admittedly, I think the choice to have DeVincentis write the film is a bit underwhelming. That being said, with Depp and Wright leading the charge here, I don’t think much can go wrong. It’s a pretty high profile project for the studio and I can’t see Disney doing a bad job with this one.

Although, many people thought that about John Carter too, and look how that turned out. But then again, like I said before, this is Edgar Wright and Johnny Depp. It would take an awful lot to screw up a film with those two at the helm, don’t you agree?

What do you think? Will Night Stalker be another dud for the mouse house? Or can they learn from their mistakes on John Carter and release it successfully?
