Though the film hasn’t even hit theatres yet, Eli Roth is already talking about a possible sequel for The Man With The Iron Fists, the RZA-directed film that Roth produced.
Speaking to us in an interview for the film, Roth said:
RZA and I talked about continuing the story while we were shooting it. We really wanted to write the foundation of something that could continue if we decided to. It was such a great fun, creative collaboration and obviously it depends on how the public likes it, but it is something we’d love to continue.
It’s nothing concrete but it does seem that both Roth and RZA have interest in pushing ahead with the world that they’ve created for the film. They fashioned The Man With The Iron Fists with sequel plans in mind and if all goes well at the box office, I see no reason why Universal wouldn’t give the green light to a sequel.
Early buzz is positive and apparently RZA has a strong vision behind the camera, so if all goes well, expect to see The Man With The Iron Fists 2 punching its way into theatres sometime in 2014.
Admittedly, I’ve been impressed with the footage/trailers we’ve seen so far and this is one flick that I’m definitely looking forward to. Let’s just hope it can make a dent at the box office, or else the filmmaker’s hopes for a sequel may be squashed.
