Having made a ton of money for Disney and Marvel Studios by directing two Guardians of the Galaxy flicks, one could say that James Gunn is currently cock of the walk. Still, he hasn’t forgotten where he came from, and will soon return to the genre that introduced us to him, that being horror.
As it turns out, a reunion of sorts is in the cards, this time involving him and actress Elizabeth Banks. Having previously starred in Gunn’s directorial debut that was 2006’s Slither, she’ll again take part in one of his projects. Unfortunately, we don’t know what the horror movie will be titled or what it’ll be about, but it has been confirmed that Gunn will produce, with David Yarovesky (The Hive) set to direct.
Here’s what Gunn himself had to say about the exciting new endeavor:
“Elizabeth and I have been on the same artistic page since we first met when she auditioned for Slither back in 2005. She’s since remained one of my best friends in the world, and I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to work with her again. She’s the perfect partner to Yarvo, the H Collective and myself in creating this very special project.”
Written by Brian and Mark Gunn, the picture will be financed by the aforementioned H Collective, which also will produce alongside Gunn and his company Troll Court Entertainment.
Given James Gunn’s busy schedule, it’s understandable that he not direct this one. After all, it’s been said that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will begin shooting in early 2019, so one can only assume that’d provide a conflict of sorts. Regardless of that, we’ll keep you posted on this particular film as more details are brought to light.
