After an international trailer hit for The Texas Killing Fields not too long ago, we now have the first official English language trailer. Sam Worthington, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chloe Moretz, Stephen Graham, Jessica Chastain and Jason Clark star in this somewhat appealing crime thriller.
Aside from Worthington’s questionable accent, I don’t see too much in the way of negatives coming out of the trailer. Ani Canaan Mann is directing, which is somewhat hopeful. I mean, she must have learnt something from her father right? And Chloe Moretz is starring, which is enough to get me into the theatre. Furthermore, the subject material looks pretty dark and Sam Worthington and Jeffrey Dean Morgan should make for competent leads.
All things considered, this one doesn’t look too bad. Admittedly, it doesn’t look terribly original or remarkable but I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be a decent, yet likely cliched, little crime thriller that manages to keep you pinned to your seat throughout.
The Texas Killing Fields is slated to begin a limited theatrical release in the U.S. on October 7th, 2011.
This tense and haunting thriller follows a local homicide detective (Sam Worthington) in a small Texas town and his partner, a transplanted cop from New York City (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), as they track a sadistic serial killer dumping his victims’ mutilated bodies in a nearby marsh locals call “The Killing Fields”. The killer changes the game and begins hunting the detectives, teasing them with possible clues at the crime scenes while always remaining one step ahead. When a familiar local girl, Anne (Chloe Grace Moretz), goes missing, the detectives find themselves in a race against time to find the killer and save her life.
