Eric Roberts Joins The Human Centipede III: Final Sequence

Do we really need a third Human Centipede film? Thinking along those lines, did we even need the first one? Regardless of how deplorable the subject matter is for this franchise, someone somewhere must enjoy them. One of those people is probably Eric Roberts, who has just signed on to star in The Human Centipede III: Final Sequence.

Not a lot has been revealed about his role. On the film’s IMDb page his character name is listed as Governor. Whether or not that’s an actual Governor or a The Walking Dead-type narcissistic nickname remains to be seen. Three other additions joining Roberts are Tommy Lister, who made appearances in The Fifth Element and Friday; Robert LaSardo from Death Race and former porn star Bree Olson.

Chatter surrounding Roberts is directed at his occasional work in films that aren’t straight to video. He has appeared in The Dark Knight and The Expendables after all. He’s also been in a load of tripe. He’s obviously a diverse actor judging from his IMDb listing. He’s played everything except a member of a medically-questionable human aggregate.

Back directing the film is series creator Tom Six, who also wrote the script for the final instalment (let’s hope). This time around the action is set in a prison. Incarceration in cinema is seldom a joyous experience (bar The Shawshank Redemption). Now with some total git intent on creating a huge centipede locked up, it’s only going to get more grim. In an attempt to out-gross the previous entries, this time the centipede will feature 500 people. Ugh.

The second film received a critical slaying and harsh cuts from the BBFC. The British Board of Film Classification originally refused to classify The Human Centipede 2, citing it as “dangerous.” They eventually reversed their decision after making 32 cuts.

The Human Centipede III: Final Sequence is currently in production.
