So far, we’ve yet to receive any official answers on the matter, though we’ve plenty of reason to believe that several stars of the 1984 Ghostbusters have at least been in talks about Jason Reitman’s film. Ernie Hudson in particular seems to have been kept in the loop in recent months, though in a recent interview with Syracuse.com, the Winston Zeddemore actor clarified that he still hasn’t signed on for the upcoming sequel.

“I know they’re doing [Ghostbusters 2020],” Hudson said. “I know Jason Reitman is going to direct it. He’s an amazing filmmaker. I’d love to be a part of it. I don’t have a deal yet, and I hope it works out. But no matter what, I know Jason’s going to make a great movie.”

As it stands, none of the original Ghostbusters stars have been officially confirmed for movie number three, though in an interview last month with Parade, Sigourney Weaver indicated that she, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are all set to reprise their roles.

Meanwhile, we already know of a few franchise newcomers that Reitman has brought on board. Back in March, it was announced that Annabelle Comes Home star Mckenna Grace and Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard had both joined the cast, along with Carrie Coon of The Leftovers fame. More recently, Deadline reported that Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd will play a teacher in a small town, so regardless of how many returning players Reitman can nab, his film is sure to pack some star power.

In any case, it can’t be long now before production gets underway for Ghostbusters 3, at which point, we’ll hopefully have a more concrete idea of who is and isn’t in the new line-up. After that, we’ll be seeing the latest team in action when the flick hits theaters on July 10th, 2020.
