As much fun as it must be to play a superhero, one recurring complaint you hear from actors who’ve starred in Marvel and DC movies over the years is that it’s a pain to wear the often restrictive costumes. Remember how Christian Bale’s one piece of advice for Ben Affleck was to make sure he has a zipper in his batsuit?
So, it’s a nice change of pace to see a star praise their outfit as being comfortable. That’s what Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s Evangeline Lilly said while talking to NDTV, revealing that she was very happy to wear the shrinking suit in the sequel as she thinks it’s the best outfit in the MCU.
“My suit I, I don’t know if this is true, but I believe my suit is the most comfortable of the MCU. I don’t know if it was just because I liked it so much, and I felt so cool in it and I really wanted to wear it. I slept in it, I ate in it, I bathed in it, I never took it off…ever. I’m very method (laughs).”
All that said, Lilly did admit that there’s one problem that she has with the costume, and it’s something that many superhero actors – particularly women – have complained about before: the suits are so tight. In Lilly’s case, it meant she couldn’t enjoy a good meal.
“After a while, the only thing that was a bummer wearing the suit was I like to eat, and I like to eat in large quantities, and I’m in a very tight suit where I can barely breathe let alone eat. So I had to eat in tiny quantities all day, so that was irritating. I ate little bits of bee pollen all day and that’s all I can eat.”
Overall, though, the actress seems to have a much more positive reaction to her costume than other MCU leading ladies. Elizabeth Olsen has criticized the fact that her outfit as Scarlet Witch requires her to show off a lot of cleavage, while Scarlet Johansson has said she was daunted by the prospect of wearing Black Widow’s catsuit when she first started out.
As for Evangeline Lilly, you can see her suit up as the Wasp when Ant-Man and the Wasp buzzes into theaters on July 6th.
