In the race to become the next Hunger Games, perhaps no YA property has as great an advantage as Summit’s upcoming dystopian adventure Divergent, based on the bestselling novel by Veronica Roth. Today, a new action-packed teaser has landed, and you can check it out below:

I know what you’re saying – that’s it? Don’t worry, this is just the teaser for a longer trailer, which will be unveiled this Sunday at the MTV VMAs.

Divergent, set in a futuristic Chicago where people are divided into factions based on their personalities, follows the journey of Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior, a girl who discovers that she is Divergent and does not fit into just one faction. As Tris attempts to hide this aspect of her personality, she discovers a plot brewing beneath the surface of her seemingly utopian society to destroy all Divergents.

The film, directed by Limitless helmer Neil Burger, will star The Descendants’ star Shailene Woodley as Tris. Also starring in the film are Theo James (CBS’ Golden Boy), Ansel Elgort (the Carrie remake), Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class), Maggie Q (Nikita), and Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard). Kate Winslet will also appear as the villainous leader of a faction opposing Tris and her friends.

Like The Hunger GamesDivergent is set in an unfamiliar future America, stars an unlikely female heroine with an unusual name and is packed to the brim with action and romance. If you need more similarities, the film will star a talented up-and-comer (The DescendantsShailene Woodley) and a cast of good-looking teens tangled up in romances and betrayals. It’s not hard to see that the filmmakers are aiming to create another red-hot movie franchise along the lines of the Jennifer Lawrence-headlined Hunger Games series, and who can blame them? As long as we continue to buy tickets for these movies, more of them will get made, no two ways about it.

Divergent will be released on March 21st, 2014.

Tell us, are you excited for the film, or have you seen too many of these dystopian teen book adaptations to be interested in another one? Are teasers for trailers a good way to whet the audience’s appetite, or do you think they are just a waste of time? Let us know in the comments section.
