Just when you thought that no other action movie could top what The Raid: Redemption ended up accomplishing, The Raid 2 comes along to blow it right out of the water. The film takes place mere minutes after the events of its predecessor, and despite Rama emerging victorious and coming out of that apartment complex alive, he discovers that his troubles have only just begun.
It turns out that the drug kingpin/landlord of the building and all of the gangsters inside of it were just small fish swimming in a pool that is bigger than he could have ever imagined. Now, his family is in grave danger and his only choice is to go undercover and enter the criminal underworld to take care of the threat.
Last week in Los Angeles, I had the great privilege of sitting down for an exclusive interview with writer/director Gareth Evans and actor Iko Uwais while at the film’s press junket. During our conversation, Gareth talked about his fascination with the Indonesian martial art of pencak silat and what the toughest action sequence to pull off was, and Iko described the challenges of reprising his role.
Check it out in the video below and be sure to catch The Raid 2 when it fights its way into theatres this Friday!
