New coat, same Newt.
Empire Magazine has today conjured up a brand new image from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, Warner’s second Potter prequel in which Eddie Redmayne returns as the world-famous Magizoologist.
He’s seemingly still adjusting to his new surroundings, given The Crimes of Grindelwald opens at a time when Newt has arrived in Paris – hence the addition of a more “glamorous” wizarding community. There’s also Newt’s briefcase to consider, which is packed full of annotated sketches and various notes (is that a bowtruckle?) relating to those odd and mysterious beasts populating the land.
And then, there’s Katherine Waterston’s Tina Goldstein, who looks to have been reinstated as an Auror by the Ministry of Magic now that Grindelwald is behind bars.
Speaking of Gellert Grindelwald, Johnny Depp’s dark wizard is poised to become a major player throughout most of Warner’s Fantastic Beasts saga – much to the chagrin of some fans – though it’s looking increasingly likely that The Crimes of Grindelwald will skate around that tragic romance between Grindelwald and Dumbledore, after all. Something that Ian McKellan isn’t too pleased about.
Be that as it may, we can readily expect a return trip to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry come November, where Jude Law will be introduced as the young Albus Dumbledore. We’ll see you on Platform 9 3/4.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald apparates into theaters November 16th, and it seems author-turned-screenwriter J.K. Rowling is already hard at work on the third installment in Warner’s prequel saga. Its ETA? Sometime in 2020, we imagine.
