There’s trouble brewing within the cavernous halls of Hogwarts.
Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, played on this occasion by a dashing Jude Law, faces the full force of the Ministry of Magic for his dealings with one Newt Scamander, a world-renowned magizoologist with whom he shares an ironclad friendship.
We are, of course referring to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, Warner Bros. and David Yates’ starry sequel that’s expected to shift the focus over to the young Dumbledore in 2018 and beyond. Eddie Redmayne’s wizard won’t always be the sole focus of Warner’s prequel saga, so don’t be too surprised if and when Jude Law’s Hogwarts professor assumes leading man duties – if he hasn’t already.
Speaking of Hogwarts, CBM has curated a handful of high-res screenshots that have been pulled from The Crimes Of Grindelwald‘s first teaser. And they’re exactly as wondrous and magical as you’d expect.
From the fresh-faced Dumbledore to Gellert Grindelwald, his elusive love interest who’s set to be portrayed by Johnny Depp – contentiously, we might add – this particular gallery is perhaps the perfect follow-up act to Tuesday’s trailer reveal.
It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, mind you, given Potterheads appear to have uncovered a glaring plothole involving Dumbledore, though in order to mitigate any possible spoilers, we’ll refrain from divulging any story information here.
Besides, with a November 16th release date locked in, Warner Bros. is prepped and ready to welcome viewers back to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. We’ll see you on Platform 9 3/4.
