Update: Universal has now rolled out a series of images that highlight the vehicles of choice for Dom and his crew. Check them out above!
Original Story: Let it be known that Luke Hobbs, the musclebound law enforcer played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, will stop at nothing to save the world.
In his latest Instagram post, Johnson unveils his monstrous new ice truck that will be storming onto the scene in Fast 8 – specifically, during the sequel’s barnstorming action sequence that was captured in the remote Icelandic town of Akranes. Come 2017, Hobbs will be kicking ass and taking names while piloting the Ice Ram, and just last month, Johnson himself teased something of a new chapter for the franchise’s friendly giant.
Poised to return to his roots, Fast 8 could stand as the biggest turning point for Hobbs as a character. The Iceman Cometh, indeed.
With Straight Outta Compton‘s F. Gary Gray behind the lens, Johnson is joined on the casting list by Vin Diesel and Charlize Theron as franchise newcomer and badass villain, Cipher. Elsewhere, there’s also Michelle Rodriguez, Lucas Black – returning to the franchise for the first time since Tokyo Drift – Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Scott Eastwood, Kristofer Hivju, Nathalie Emmanuel and Kurt Russell as the mysterious Mr. Nobody.
Fast 8 marks the beginning of a new – and seemingly final – trilogy at Universal. It’ll screech onto the scene on April 14, 2017, followed in quick succession by Fast & Furious 9 (April 19, 2019) and Fast & Furious 10 (April 2, 2021).
