It’s about damn time, indeed.
Having spent much of Peyton Reed’s original sleeper hit wasting away on the sidelines, Ant-Man and the Wasp heralds the moment when Hope Van Dyne, as played by Evangeline Lilly, gets a suit of her own. And this one’s got wings. And blasters.
It’s a suit of armor that far exceeds Ant-Man’s – much to the chagrin of Scott Lang – and thanks to today’s newly-released clip, fans have been given the chance to take a closer look at the versatile armor as it’ll appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Granted, if you’ve been keeping track of the sequel’s marketing campaign, you’ll no doubt be familiar with this kitchen brawl, in which Hope Van Dyne uses a giant salt dispenser to trap some goons, before shrinking to the size of a teeny-tiny wasp in order to avoid an oncoming knife. Check it out up above.
Pretty neat, eh? If nothing else, the film’s first clip offers a small, but no less significant tease of the fight choreography, and the fact that director Peyton Reed was able to shrink (and expand!) his titular heroes at a moment’s notice has surely resulted in some creative scenes, as Ant-Man and the Wasp race against the clock, battle a Ghost, and maybe – just maybe – discover some connective tissue that the sequel shares with Avengers 4. We’ll find out very soon.
Said to be targeting a domestic debut in the region of $75M, Ant-Man and the Wasp is locked in for a U.S. release on July 6th. It’ll likely screen for the press in the coming days, so stay tuned for more on that front as critics run the rule over Marvel’s third and final release of 2018 – after Black Panther and Infinity War, of course.
