After Jonathan Majors’ acting credits for 2023 got off to a shaky start with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, early reviews for Creed III seem to suggest he is set to bounce back quite quickly.
The first wave of reviews for the Creed threequel starring (and directed by) Michael B. Jordan have landed on Rotten Tomatoes, and sentiment surrounding the film have been generally quite positive, with critics heaping praise on the film’s vulnerability and drama both inside and outside of the ring.
While a number of the review blurbs seem to hint that Creed III doesn’t quite hit the highs of its two predecessors, it paves its own way to adequate effect and doesn’t shy away from allowing its anime influence to shine through. No concerns appear to have been raised about the absence of Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa for the first time in the film franchise, so it seems to be standing on its own two feet just fine.
It would seem, then, that Michael B. Jordan has managed to successfully pull off his directorial debut, which at the time, he thought to be low-key torture. However, it would seem that his efforts have paid off – certainly no thanks to some of the mentorship he received from some big names along the way.
Creed III, starring Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson and Jonathan Majors will be making its way into theaters on March 3, 2023.
