Taking to his personal Twitter account earlier this morning, Ryan Reynolds lifted the curtain on the first official look at his Deadpool costume in typical fashion.
Posing in a way that would make Rose DeWitt Bukater proud, the photo sees Reynolds don the superhero guise for a rather intimate still. Here’s what the actor had to share.

For the film, Reynolds will play the part of Wade Wilson, Marvel’s idiosyncratic anti-hero that earns his title as the Merc with a Mouth for his quirky one-liners and devastating physical abilities. The project has flirted with development for some time, particularly after the actor’s cameo in the otherwise poor X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but it was the tidal wave of support that rose to the fore following the release of last year’s excellent test footage.
Fast forward to the present day and Fox has greenlit the Deadpool adaptation, which is currently filming in Reynolds’ hometown of Vancouver ahead of its 2016 due date. Firefly and Homeland starlet Morena Baccarin is on board as the as-yet-unnamed romantic interest, while there are also roles for Silicon Valley’s T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein and Haywire‘s Gina Carano. As for the talent behind the camera, Tim Miller is in the director’s chair, supported by writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, alongside Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg who are serving as producers.
Deadpool will swoop into theaters in time for February 12, 2016. For now, you can share your early impressions of the costume design and indeed Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth in the comments below.
