Though these island pics may look peaceful, they could well be the settings for some outsized conflicts once the CGI beasts are added in. But until we get some fully rendered footage, let’s just soak in this lush environment while the production moves forward under the name “Apex.” As well as plenty of forest photos, you can see a few pics of the Battleship Missouri, along with a vehicle bearing the Monarch logo.

What’s missing from this set material – other than the obvious sight of two giant creatures smacking each other around – is the impressive human cast that’s been assembled for this film. Alongside such recognizable names as Kyle Chandler, Zhang Ziyi, Millie Bobby Brown, Julian Dennison, Danai Gurira, Brian Tyree Henry, Demián Bichir, and Rebecca Hall, the news recently broke that Jessica Henwick from Game of Thrones and Lance Reddick of The Wire and John Wick fame have also joined the team.

Several of these actors, however, will first be entering the MonsterVerse via the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which hits theaters on May 31st, 2019, and has one hell of a trailer to live up to. After that, the lane is clear for Godzilla vs. Kong, which is set to provide this aspiring cinematic universe with its first real crossover moment when it comes out on May 22nd, 2020.
