Spider-Man fans are waiting with intense curiosity to see how Sony’s upcoming Venom movie plays out. So far, the production has been kept mostly under wraps, but as filming continues down in Atlanta, we’re beginning to see more and more of the pic. Just a few days ago, for instance, we got some blurry set photos of Hardy which, admittedly, didn’t give us a whole lot to go on. Now, however, we have something more official, as the Twitter account for the spinoff has Tweeted out an image of the actor in between takes, which means he’s sporting his look for Eddie Brock.

It’s not much different than how he usually appears, mind you, but you’ll see that Hardy’s got jet black hair here along with bandages and tattoos all over his arms. We can’t infer much from this, but it’s still nice to see an official production still rather than blurry set snaps. Speaking of which, we do have a few more of those as well, and though the context of the scenes being shot in them is unknown, they do give us yet another glimpse at the Mad Max star in character.

Behind the lens, Ruben Fleischer is calling the shots on Venom but beyond the film’s core cast – Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed and Jenny Slate are all expected to co-star – there’s still much we don’t know about the project.

Situated outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we understand the pic has been angled as the opening chapter to Sony’s Spider-Man universe, while Lethal Protector, the six-issue comic book series that first hit store shelves in 1993, has been earmarked as a potential inspiration.

Directing from a script penned by Kelly Marcel (50 Shades of Grey), Fleischer’s Venom movie is expected to launch into theaters on October 5th, 2018, and when it does, it’ll use motion-capture CGI to render the titular alien symbiote. So similar to how Topher Grace’s performance was captured in Spider-Man 3, then.
