Production rumbles on today on the set of Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass’ long-awaited action sequel Bourne 5, and Coming Soon has spotted the pair atop a London rooftop capturing an intense sequence.
This isn’t the first batch of set photos to surface from Universal’s yet-to-be-titled follow-up, with fans getting a glimpse of a muscular Damon back in September when the film set up shop in Tenerife, Spain. Hopping from one European location to the next, today’s slew of images will be familiar territory for ardent supporters of the series, and we imagine that both Greengrass and Damon have a few tricks up their sleeves after collaborating across The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum.
Primed to release almost a decade after the actor’s last foray as the title agent, Universal has understandably kept story specific under wraps at such an early stage. What we do know is that Greengrass and Co. have been busy filling the roles around Damon’s grizzled lead, with The Man From U.N.C.L.E.‘s Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Nightcrawler breakout Riz Ahmed, Vincent Cassell and Julia Stiles all on board. From what we understand, it is Cassell who will be acting as the chief antagonist: a highly-trained assassin on the trail of our title hero.
Beyond that, Damon teased that Bourne 5 will see Jason Bourne begin to recall flicking memories from his checkered past, and that realization will naturally form a big part of the sequel’s arc.
“[Bourne] has his memory back, but that doesn’t mean he knows everything. It’s 12 years since Jason Bourne has been on the grid. So we have to answer the questions, Where’s he been? What’s he doing? What gets him going again? So once we solved all that, then we had a movie.”
Universal’s dormant action series will return to the fray when Bourne 5 rappels into theaters on July 15, 2016.
