A record-breaking year at the box office for Channing Tatum hasn’t slowed down the action star-heartthrob from powering ahead into his next project: Roland Emmerich’s White House Down, which courtesy of a behind-the-scenes interview from ET, gives us a first look at the action and its stars.
The video showcases the massive White House set in Montreal (which also includes a full-sized swimming pool) and a number of the hand-to-hand fight scenes (one apparently involving a toaster turned impromptu mace) which pits Tatum’s Secret Service agent against a small army of paramilitary insurgents who lay siege to the famous government structure.
Also making an appearance is Jamie Foxx who will play the POTUS and must rely on (of course) one of the sole standing agents: Magic Mike himself. Speaking of that film, in the video, Tatum cracks wise about his earlier hit stating “there will be nakedness on some level in White House Down though not on the level of my last movie.” Adding “I don’t think the president would be too happy if I were running around the White House in an American flag thong.”
Though essentially Die Hard in The White House (and featuring a story done before on the likes of 24, among others) Emmerich is a hugely capable action director and Tatum an infinitely likeable leading man, so there is certainly ample promise present in this tentpole thriller.
Also starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods and Richard Jenkins, White House Down will lay siege to theaters across North America on June 28, 2013.
