Leave it to Freddie Mercury to defy the odds, eh?
Though the iconic musician wasn’t alive to see Bohemian Rhapsody in all its glory, his long lasting legacy was very much present and well within Fox’s recent biopic, in which Mr. Robot‘s Rami Malek brought Freddie to life via one of the most impressive performances of 2018.
Understandably, the film has gone on to become a huge hit at the box office, too, cementing its place as one of last year’s undisputed sleeper hits alongside Venom. That’s not to say that Dexter Fletcher’s star-studded biopic arrived with zero expectations, it’s just that not many people could’ve predicted a worldwide haul of over $700 million. And it seems that number will only climb higher.
That’s because Fox has now announced special sing-a-long screenings of Bohemian Rhapsody for the UK that’ll take place later this month. For exact dates and locations, you can follow the link down below to the film’s official website, and you’d be wise to attend one, as these screenings will surely make for a great new way to view the movie.
Of course, the question on everyone’s mind right now is if we might see a sequel. The possibility has been teased already, but do we really need a movie about Freddie Mercury’s trials and tribulations? I mean, he was only 45 when he died after battling AIDS and it’s hard to imagine audience members heading out to theaters to watch such a heart-wrenching story, particularly after Bohemian Rhapsody delivered a ‘warts and all’ account of Mercury’s breakout.
But what do you think? Is Bohemian Rhapsody ripe for the sequel treatment? Or would Fox be wise to just leave things as they are, and not dive any further into Freddie’s story? As always, you can share your thoughts with us down below.
