We know, we know: Crossbones doesn’t sound like a very threatening villain at all. And though the name may conjure up hilarious images of, say, a rejected pirate walking along a beach with a sad face, ol’ Crossbones is sure to give Captain America a run for his money in the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Probably, anyway, now that Frank Grillo has been cast in the villainous role.
For those who have never heard of Crossbones, he’s one of Red Skull’s henchman and leader of the Savage Grims gang on New York’s East Side. Crossbones is also an expert marksman and his real name is Brock Ludlow, which is fine.
Frank Grillo is sure to bring some memorable grit to the role, though nobody is sure yet as to how much focus exactly will set on Crossbones. Is he just a henchman, or something more? Hugo Weaving has mentioned that he’s not too keen on returning as Red Skull for the next entry, so it’s possible that Crossbones will find himself positioned centre stage as the Captain’s main enemy.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which will see Chris Evans back as the righteous superhero, is set to be released in theatres on April 4th, 2014.
What do you think on Grillo’s casting? Will he make a good Crossbones? Would you have preferred somebody else?
