Upcoming horror/comedy film Fright Night is slowly starting to sculpt itself as an interesting film. First, we were given the initial trailer, which didn’t do much for me as far as coming off as interesting or something to look forward to. Then, we got a short clip, which again didn’t hold my interest. But now, we have the second trailer, which I must say is quite good.
The second trailer manages to nail the tone perfectly. It never crosses over into the “too silly” category and it never tries to be too serious as far as the horror is concerned. This looks like something that could be fun and enjoyable. Let’s hope that it turns out to be a good film as it would be a good movie to start closing out the summer with.
As I mentioned before, the only thing that worries me is the lack of an October release date. Studios tend to stick some of their crappy horror films in the summer because they don’t have much faith in the film to compete it up against the other Halloween horror films like Paranormal Activity. I could be wrong though, maybe DreamWorks has so much faith in Fright Night that they stick it in the summer because they know it will draw big numbers? Who knows and honestly who cares? The only thing that matters is the film itself and right now, I’m looking forward to it.
Fright Night stars Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Imogen Poots. It will be sinking its teeth into theaters on August 19th, 2011.
