Marvel and DC fans are always trying to drum up a conflict between the two major superhero studios, but the truth is that those who make the movies are all on good terms. Right now, for instance, there’s a battle raging on social media over who’s better between Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel, when we should really be celebrating the fact that we have two uber-powereful heroines on the big screen.

Case in point: DC star Gal Gadot took to Instagram today to congratulate Brie Larson on Captain Marvel‘s incredible opening weekend at the box office. “I’m so happy for you sister,” Gadot wrote, tagging Larson in the post. Alongside her message, the actress – who’s been playing Diana Prince since 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – shared an awesome piece of fan art showing the Amazonian princess and Carol Danvers linking arms.

Prior to its release, there was a vocal online backlash against Captain Marvel from an angry minority of fans which led some to theorize that it might not hit the heights expected of it. In actual fact, though, the movie smashed it in its opening weekend, earning $455 million across the globe. That officially puts it as the sixth highest-grossing opening of all-time and the second highest superhero film debut behind Avengers: Infinity War.

On a similar note, Gadot’s fellow DC star Zachary Levi – set to feature in Shazam! next month – held nothing back when he blasted Captain Marvel trolls in a video, arguing that these sort of people are damaging the whole superhero movie fandom for everyone, making clear his support for the work of the folks at Marvel and specifically, the hero who pinched his character’s name.

Captain Marvel may be in cinemas now, but Gadot will return when Wonder Woman 1984 lassos its way into theaters on June 5th, 2020.
