Deadline is telling us that director F. Gary Gray is now attached to direct an adaptation of Rick Remender’s comic series The Last Days of American Crime, a project that actor Sam Worthington has been attached to for a while. It will be Worthington’s next project after he’s done shooting on Wrath of the Titans.
The project sounds interesting and I do like Gary Gray. He’s done some very entertaining films like The Negotiator, The Italian Job and Law Abiding Citizen. I loved all of those and this one seems to be similar. Looks like an action/heist film that fits in very nicely with the type of movies Gray has done before.
The plot goes something like this:
In the futuristic tale, America responds to a second major terrorism attack by developing technology that eliminates the impulse to commit crimes of any kind. Worthington leads a heist team that plans to pull off a final job five days before the signal rubs out the criminal instinct.
