Though the Australian actor has promised that 2017’s Logan was his final time playing the part, Marvel fans are desperate for Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine. To begin with, they just wanted to see him team up with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool but, with the Disney-Fox merger about to go through, to miss the opportunity to have him rub shoulders with the Avengers would be criminal.
Thankfully, then, one source is now claiming that the star will indeed show up in April’s Avengers: Endgame, and that source is Google. As pointed out by FandomWire, if you search “famous hugh jackman movies” and scroll through the results, you’ll see that Avengers: Endgame is listed as part of the actor’s resume. While there’ve been countless fan theories and prayers that Jackman will unsheathe his Adamantium claws once again and pop up in the MCU, we’ve never heard anything approaching confirmation that he’ll actually turn up for a cameo, and it certainly seems unlikely.
After all, the merger has yet to be completed, so Marvel Studios can’t even play with Fox’s X-Men characters at present. The deal is expected to be finalized in the first few months of 2019, however, so if they’re quick, Endgame could theoretically feature a small post-credits scene with Jackman’s Wolverine finding himself in the MCU.
That would require the actor to want to return to the iconic role, though, and everything he’s said over the past couple of years suggests that he’s put Logan behind him for good, which is fair enough after he’s played the mutant for the best part of two decades. Then again, with the assembled Marvel universe – including Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and more – trying to get him back into the fold, maybe he’ll give in.
What do you think, though? Is Hugh Jackman going to return as Wolverine in Avengers: Endgame? Or has the search engine just made a mistake here? As always, you can let us know your thoughts down below.
