Will we see more of the High Evolutionary in the MCU?

A deleted scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is offering more insight into the fate of its main villain, Chukwudi Iwuji’s High Evolutionary.

In the film, we thought the High Evolutionary was perhaps as good as dead since he was left behind by Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon on his ship on the brink of destruction. However, a new scene is revealing that the villain’s fate may be worse than death, after all, since it seems he has been relegated to a cage on the planet Knowhere, much like the terrible conditions he himself subjected to his animal experiments.

The clip was shared on Twitter by the Phase Zero podcast and features the dastardly scientist pathetically pinning his face back to his head as a not-fully-rendered Rocket shuts the door to his laser-guarded prison.

I hope this means Iwuji’s character has not been written out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe entirely, since I rather enjoyed his screen presence in the movie, despite it arguably falling into the realm of camp at times with his over-the-top screaming and floundering on the floor.

With the High Evolutionary being responsible for Rocket’s creation, including his super intelligence, as well as the murder of his closest friends, I can only hope the mechanically-inclined mammal gets a sense of satisfaction out of shuttering the door on the prison cell of his arch-nemesis.
