With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 having hyperjumped into theaters this past weekend, Marvel fans are finally eating well for the first time this year; with the film embracing each and every ingredient it needed to be the best possible sendoff for this lovable pack of misfits, it’s truly one of the MCU’s finest trilogy capstones.

It’s also, of course, a James Gunn project, which always double as showcases for potential DC Universe candidates. Indeed, the Peacemaker mastermind is known for roping in actors he already has a rapport with into his films and shows, and considering he shook more than a few hands, old and new, on the Vol. 3 set, it’s no unsafe bet to say we could be seeing some of these faces in the DCU under Gunn’s leadership, and one particularly fresh face has been touted by Twitter as one perfect piece of the Superman: Legacy puzzle.

We know that at least someone from Vol. 3 will be appearing in Gunn’s opening DC Universe film, and while Will Poulter may have shown off his Superman-esque action chops as Adam Warlock in Vol. 3, it’s his likeness to Jimmy Olsen that has the internet talking.

A close ally of Superman and a mainstay throughout the comics, we’ll almost certainly be seeing Jimmy in Superman: Legacy, and it’s no question that Poulter has the range necessary to go from measured journalist to vessel of the New Gods if need be. All in all, we couldn’t be more on board with this fan-cast.

Of course, we’re still a few years out from Superman: Legacy, and given that Poulter’s only started his MCU journey, there may be some hoops to jump through if he’s going to end up playing for both sides. Either way, Marvel fans have never let something as silly as real-world complications get in the way of their daydreams, so why should the DC fans?

Guardians of the Galaxy is currently playing in theaters, while Superman: Legacy is due on July 11, 2025.
